I contacted Kathie (Pulver) Moore and asked if she knew what had happened to Joan. The following is her response.

Joan and her husband, Mike Baldwin owned a home on Table Rock Lake near Golden, Mo.. They moved there from California after she retired as a budget supervisor for the state of California in the early 90's. She died in July of 1999 just a few months after being diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. We stayed close through the 50 years since we met when I was in 1st and she was in 2nd grade and I miss her to this day. Her only son, Marc, died just last year,(2012).
